Nigeria must be adding not less than two thousand mega watts - Obasanjo

Posted on 01:12 by Unknown

The former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, at a programme yesterday tagged First Green Legacy Moment with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Leadership and Human Security in Africa, in Abeokuta, attributed the problems ravaging the power sector in the country to his successors, saying, they abandoned the sector.

in his words “Part of our problems is lack of political will on the part of the leaders. What does a leader understands about development,   any leader worth its salt should know that power is very important. It is the driver of all development be it social, economic, and even political.

“When I was military head of state, I developed the Jebba dam, I developed Shirroro, I started Egbin. Shagari came and completed Egbin and commissioned Jebba and Shirroro.
Between Shagari in 1983, until I came back in 1999, there was no single dime invested in power generation. If anything, the ones that were there were allowed to go down.

“A country like Nigeria must be adding not less than two thousand mega watts if we are to be moving on the path of development.

“If you will remember,  when I came back in 1999, my first Minister of Power was late Bola Ige. I won’t say Bola didn’t know what he was doing and he said publicly that he would fix the power problems in six months.

“After one year, Bola with his capacity couldn’t fathom what was wrong with power. It was riddled with corruption. Then we had no money, people have forgotten that in 1999/2000, the price of crude oil was US $9 per barrel. So, I wanted the oil companies; Mobil, Total and they wouldn’t go along.

“When we started having money, we started the National Integrated Power Plant . When we said the money we had should be invested in power, my successor didn’t understand, he stopped it.

“If for almost 20 years we did not achieve anything in power generation, then we may not be able to get it again.

“Let me give you an example: the population of South Africa is 55 million and they generate 45,000 megawatts. Our population today is  about 180 million people and could not generate 4,000 megawatts. And South Africa is an industrialising country and not an industrialised nation.

“For us to say that we are industrialising country, we must be generating much more than what South Africa is generating, say 100,000 mega watts. What year will Nigeria get there if we are adding 2,000 mega watts each year? For us to get to 100, 000 mega watts, I leave the mathematics to you. It sounds very discouraging but that is the reality”, he said.

Things to avoid in a relationship

Posted on 00:37 by Unknown

Most relationships dont last long due to little mistakes and quarells not knowing they need to avoid certain things in order to grow a better relationship.. Read the following tips below and thank me later.. #$mile

PAYING LESS ATTENTION

PAYING LESS ATTENTION Always pay utmost attention to the people you are in relationship with. This is the most expensive gift you can ever give to them. Pay attention to even small things that they do! If you come to know that your friend has bought a pen no matter how silly it may be just go and ask about the pen details such as its cost, if it is smooth writing blab blab la etc. this will make them feel good and the feeling that someone is there for us and don’t worry you will definitely get noticed in return even if it may be for silly stuffs!

TALKING BEHIND

TALKING BEHIND is another ill quality in any kind of relationship. In any relationship if u don’t like a particular behavior, attitude , or quality of a person just go straight and talk about this with the concerned person rather than talking about it behind their backs!

COMPLAINING THINGS TO A THIRD PERSON

COMPLAINING THINGS TO A THIRD PERSON is somewhat similar to TALKING BEHIND. Here, if any disagreements, quarrels, or bitter feelings arouse in the relationship then instead of complaining about these things to a third person try sorting out the differences with the concerned person or just have a third person sit along with u and try sorting out things with the particular person. Because an outsider is always believed to judge things than the persons involved!

AVOIDING/IGNORING

AVOIDING/IGNORING people in a relationship is a serious “MUST AVOID”. If in a relation a person is said to have done some mistakes or said to have done something immoral, in correct, or against the wishes of others please don’t avoid them just like that. Instead make them understand what they have done is wrong. This naturally helps in raising the standards of you as well as the concerned person. Because ignoring the concerned person will lead bitter feelings to arise and this May also lead to permanent separation!

HIDING THINGS…

HIDING THINGS… never ever hide things between people in a relationship no matter whatever it may be. If u get to know something about a person in a relationship whether good or bad just go ahead and share it with the person concerned. Mostly if it is a good thing we naturally tend to open it up. The conflict arises when we get to know something bad, unusual etc. don’t worry just tell what u heard to the concerned person. If the things what u have heard turns out to be true then instead of avoiding them try to accept them as they are or if it turns out to be false then alarm them of these senseless things going around and warn those who spreads such things!

DEMANDING APOLOGY

DEMANDING APOLOGY! Never ever demand an apology from the person in a relation with you. Normally all human beings have the tendency to apologize if they know what they did is wrong. Even if they don’t u just forgive them. And always be the first one to apologize if u know u have done something wrong. This is a wonderful quality to posses!

EMOTIONAL BLACKMAILING

EMOTIONAL BLACKMAILING! Never ever use the love, affection, trust, respect etc, that one has on u to blackmail them or use them as a weapon to get things done by them. This is cultivated right from childhood by most of us. Example: during childhood days we used to say to our friends “if I am your true friend then do this home work for me” is n’t it? Slowly this becomes a habit and many use this a weapon to get things done by others! One who have real affection for us will in turn do things for us! Isn’t it like punishing them for the love they have on us?!?!?!

TEASING IN FRONT OF OTHERS

TEASING IN FRONT OF OTHERS! Don’t ever do this as this is similar to exploitation. even if u find others teasing the person u go and protect the concerned person and try supporting the concerned. Even if they do something terribly crazy leading to others teasing the person u as a related person should not join others in teasing instead support the concerned person and try correcting or criticizing them in person!

Saen former Manager blasts Wizkid

Posted on 02:44 by Unknown

It's a new month, but it's same old drama for Wizkid. After the dispute between the pop act and Saeon over him not promoting the 'Boogie Down' video, Saeon's former manager Alex Adegbenro has added his ow two cents to the drama.
Alex Adegbenro who now lives in the United Kingdom granted an exclusive interview to a radio show in the UK hosted by Chi Chi. In the interview, he revealed that Wizkid pleaded to Saeon and her team to shoot the video for 'Boogie Down'. In his words Wizkid 'was adamant about us shooting a music video so he could benefit from it'.
He went on record to say Saeon never begged Wizkid for a collaboration, neither did she sleep in front of his house. Saeon's former manager mentioned that she wasn't too enthusiastic one working with Wizkid in the first place. The female singer preferred to use the N1.5m to promote her 'I Am Saeon' EP rather than pay Wizkid for the collaboration. Later on in the interview he said that contrary to what Wizkid said, Saeon didn't meet Wizkid until the day they recorded. "Saeon didn't even get to meet him or talk to him until the day they recorded together in the studio" he said.

He went on to brand Wizkid as a proud person who might not be a deep thinker. "He’s either not a thinker, or he has consumed himself with so much pride" and recollected how Wizkid used to sleep in front of OJB's studio crying to work with big acts such as M.i

M.I Abaga - Chairman

Posted on 02:39 by Unknown

M.I drops a brilliant album despite initial fears from the Hip Hop community

M.I takes a simplistic approach in his comeback album
"Actor no dey die" goes a popular phrase among Nigerians. The saying underlines the cinematic attribute of the movie's hero coming out victorious no matter how dim his chances are.
The hero in an action film (pun intended) might be on his knees, with the villain about to give the death blow, but thanks to fate the actor is able to snatch his hand from the jaws death and come out unscathed.
Critics, bloggers, and some fans (myself inclusive) started tagging M.I as a 'has been' after failing to drop an album in four years. The abominable 'King James' (which I now refer to as King Judas) didn't help M.I's ratings.
It truly looked for the short black boy who re-wrote Nigerian rap history in 2008 that his days were numbered. But since art mirrors life, I guess it is safe to say "actor no dey die" as M.I defies odds and produces a comeback album of sterling quality.
17 tracks long, The Chairman is based on the concept of opposites (poor/rich, desire/fulfillment, brotherly love/betrayal, zero/hero), accompanied with a haunting hum at the beginning and at the end of the album.
M.I is conscious to know that he has made some mistakes along the way, and addresses his flaws on the centre-piece song on the album 'Human Being' featuring a brilliant 2face (that we hardly hear these days) and Sound Sultan who is the Ryan Giggs of Nigerian music.
On 'Yours' featuring Milli and Debbie he raps about fans tearing him down, when they were the ones who made him a successful artist in the first place. He also wonders why his first manager is criticizing him on the Internet when he made him a star.
The introspection continues on 'Brother' featuring Nosa and Milli. The Choc City exec comes to spill his thoughts on Jesse's exit from the label, and how he is trying to steer Ice Prince into becoming a better man and rapper. He apologizes to Ice if he offended him while trying to look out for him, and tells Jesse that the door is always open if he wants to come back.
These moments of vulnerability have never been seen from M.I on this scale. He opens his closet and cleans house which makes this album honest and refreshing to listen to. Gone are the grandiose concepts that littered his previous album. You get a hint of subtle brilliance when you listen to the album as the songs are solid and easy to digest.
M.I achieved this by primarily doing away with over the top lyricism for simple, direct and effective writing. On the album opener 'Monkey' featuring Chi Gurl, he uses pop references (Patience Goodluck Jonathan's infamous "there is God" rant on TV, and phrases from the comical Nigerian athlete's 'I never experered it' YouTube interview) to remind people of his humble beginnings and how he overcame adversity.
He goes inspirational on the next song 'Rich' featuring Koker as he recollects his rise to fame, while the hook serves as a prayer to those on the come up. The sermon excerpt at the end was a tad bit unnecessary but the song in all is an inspirational song.
While M.I's simplistic writing helps make his comeback album a success, his 'easy-does-it' approach bites him in the ass a few times. The most notable one occurs on 'Mine' featuring Wizkid when he remarkably says "did you smoke something? 'Cos hi (high) girl." Luckily this embarrassing line doesn't mar the song as Wizkid's mature chorus helps keep the song afloat. The opposite of this song 'Yours' featuring Seyi Shay is another remarkable love joint from M.I.
Production wise this album is well layered, constructed and organized. The cool sax on 'Bad Belle' featuring Moti Cakes which sounds like it came out from a Sin City movie is one of my favourite production highlights on the album. It helps you not notice that M.I jacked Drake's 'Worst Behaviour' vibe.
M.I also borrows a 2 Chainz line for 'Millionaira Champagne' which should be a club jam different what we hear in these parts. Apart from Ice Prince's verse, Sarkodie's machine gun flow, and M.I's chairman raps makes this song a radio friendly song without sounding too commercial.
A song like this shows that M.I is aware of what is happening in contemporary rap. It's no wonder that he features the lords of Yoruba rap, Olamide and Reminisce on the album. On the Sarz produced joint 'Shekpe', Reminisce delivers a street-worthy chorus on the song. His verse could have been slightly better judging from his long track record of stealing the spotlight. 'Shekpe' is a humorous song that is opposite of Kendrick Lamar's 'Swimming Pool' in the sense that it embraces alcoholism.
'Middle' featuring Olamide sees M.I dissing those who make up rap lists without having the credentials. It's the standout song on the project literally because it has no opposite track.
There are 19 guests acts on this album. Such a high number of guest artistes can derail an album, but because M.I sticks to his core concept, it works. The guest artistes fit like round pegs into round holes. This is illustrated well on 'Enemies' featuring Patoranking, and 'Bullion Van' featuring Phyno and Storm Rex, the latter being M.I's way of assuring he remains relevant in the Eastern bloc.
The thematic approach has its drawbacks. 'Wheel Barrow' featuring Emmy Ace and Beenie Man is a baffling attempt at creating a Dancehall jam. It doesn't work at all, and should have been left in the Loopy Studios hard drive. 'Beg' featuring Loose Kaynon and Morell doesn't add or remove the track. It does nothing for the project.
These blots are not enough to spoil M.I's comeback work of art. By retracing his steps, being honest, and opening himself to new ideas, he has regained his lost energy.
M.I's new album 'The Chairman' is that moment of inspiration that pushes the hero into the zone where he defies death. On Jude Abaga's third studio LP, he repays for his sins, and less than stellar releases within his barren spell.
Chairman is an inspiring, entertaining and a brilliant body of work from a master who has regained his magical touch. Rap is big business these days, and M.I is back as the chairman of the board.

Black Diamond General, Wande coal refuses to mention Don Jazzy's name during performance

Posted on 02:35 by Unknown

Wande Coal held a performance at the Naija FM Comedy Jam, and deliberately refused to pronounce Don Jazzy’s name all through his stage performance.

play Wande Coal performed at the Naija FM Comedy Jam and avoided Don Jazzy's name.

Whatever happened between Don Jazzy and his erstwhile protégé and signed artiste, Wande Coal really must have left a deep scar on the heart of the black singer, which has made him unable to publicly mention the name of the Mavin Boss.
Wande Coal was signed to Don Jazzy under the defunct Mohits records, and chose to move with Don Jazzy during his bitter split with D’banj. But the duo later fell out in 2013, and Wande Coal departed Mavin Records, unceremoniously to setup his record label, Black Diamond Entertainment, where he has made hit songs such as ‘Baby Hello’, ‘My Way’,
But there were cracks in their relationship, which was made public when Wande Coal released his ‘Babyface’ song in November 2013, and Don Jazzy went public, claiming to originally own his song. Don Jazzy also released his version of Babyface, with many fans taking sides and branding Wande Coal a thief.
Not much has been heard about the duo, until on Sunday, November 02, 2014. Wande Coal held a performance at the Naija FM Comedy Jam, which held at the MUSON Centre, Lagos. Wande Coal deliberately refused to pronounce Don Jazzy’s name all through his stage performance.
Wande performed his hit songs from his Mohits and Mavins career, including, ‘Bumper to Bumper, The Kick, and Rotate, and he avoided Don Jazzy’s name. Wande kept mute, while the fans screamed the name of the Mavin Boss, with many in the crowd puzzled at his behaviour.
Wande Coal is currently promoting his single, Baby Hello, which has a video with Yemi Alade as the lead vixen.

Wicked Wife; Woman Serves Cooked Condom Sauce to drunk Husband

Posted on 02:13 by Unknown

The housewife and mother-of-three served the “meal” to her husband, along with charcoal after he returned home drunk

A Ugandan woman cooked three packets of condoms (not pictured) and served them to her drunk husband as sauce because they had been fighting
A Ugandan woman has sparked controversy after she cooked three packets of condoms and served them to her husband as sauce.
The housewife and mother-of-three served the “meal” to her husband, identified as Okello Ocekilec, with charcoal after he returned home drunk.
The couple, resident in Arao ‘A’ at Ogwang Acuma parish, Aboke Sub-county in Kole, had been involved in repeated domestic fights after which the wife put the condoms in a saucepan and fried them with oil and other ingredients and presented it to her husband in revenge, the Daily Monitor reports.
Luckily for Mr. Okello however, he only had a taste before he discovered that the sauce was “unusual”.
A member of the husband’s Okarowok tribe, Mr Okello Caka responded to the incident saying:
“The issue of serving our brother condoms as sauce has raised a lot of questions, as to why the woman could do such an abominable thing. Condoms are used for other purposes including having safe sex and not as food.”
He however reportedly added that leaders of the clan would meet with the couple to encourage them to settle their differences.

Its no big deal marrying more than one wife - Kwam1

Posted on 00:52 by Unknown

In a recent chat with potpourri, Veteran Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1,talks about his forthcoming K 1 live music concert (which will feature the likes of Hip Hop artistes such as Olamide, 2face and other music act, celebs and more).politics, Fuji music, his Collabo with Olamide and reason for relocating to Ijebu

read chat below:

You are always on the road for one show or the other; can we say this has been the reason for your inability to produce an album until recently when you came up with ‘State of the Nation’?

The opportunity to travel with my band to many countries has given me the chance to interact with international musicians and also to tap from their experiences. Music is a global phenomenon just like football that brings everyone together. I have performed and attended many world class musical concerts and seminars in Nigeria and even outside the shores of Africa in a spectacular way but this has not affected me from producing good albums. It has only opened my understanding and I also have to stress that I do not need to produce albums at this level of my music career every year to remain relevant in the Nigeria and global music industry. I am a brand to reckon with.

Your latest single ‘State of the Nation’ celebrated the Awujale of Ijebu’s 80th birthday; was this because you are from Ijebu Ode in Ogun state or does it have a political undertone?

‘State of the Nation’ is the x-ray of the situation of the country,Nigeria. Our economy is poor, many things seem to be wrong in the country and I felt it was high time I talked about it and I implored other musicians to preach it too through their music. I am not a politician, which means I am not contesting for any political position.

Why did you feature Olamide in the song?

I have a good relationship with my colleagues in the industry and Olamide would not be the first musician I have featured or done a collabo with. The reason I featured Olamide this time was just to bridge the gap between the older and younger generation. Music is meant to break barriers and that is what I have done.

Over the years, there have always been one rift or the other among the Fuji musicians. As an ambassador of Fuji music, what would you say the situation is at present?

I am not bothered about conflicts among Fuji artists because conflict is an inevitable thing among human beings. I am more concerned with how to promote Nigeria music industry, especially Fuji music globally. I have been in the industry for 43years, so things of little relevance do not bother me.

Why is it that Fuji musicians tend to prefer marrying many wives?

Marrying more than one wife in this part of the world is no big deal. And I must tell you that it is not peculiar to Fuji musicians alone. Late Fela Anikulapo Kuti was not a Fuji artist and yet he had 27 wives. It is an issue that has to do with the individual, it has nothing to do with a career or a set of people. Aren’t there Fuji musicians with one wife? Don’t judge people in generic terms, judge them on individual terms.

Can we link your relocating to Ijebu to any political ambition?

Relocating to Ijebu does not connote I have a political ambition there. I also have a house in Ibadan, does that mean if I relocate to Ibadan I also have a political ambition there ? I am at liberty to move to wherever I want at whenever I want.

How would compare the messages in today’s music to when you started?

What we have now is quite different and this is as a result of change. The world itself changes and that is what our musicians are trying to achieve. Musicians have to move with the trend but I will only implore my colleagues to work on the messages of their songs because every meaningful song must have a clear message. We should not be carried away with just making music to get people dancing alone, we should pay attention to messages we pass to the society.

Can you talk about your forthcoming concert, “K1 Live Unusual’ concert”?

(smiles) the concert will be something unusual and if we really want to achieve that, I think it has to be a surprise. I can only assure my fans that the concert will be music at its best.

“I have always had Durosoke since when I recorded the YBNL album. The song didn’t just make the album. It took me overnight close to four or five hours to write the song.”

He added, I will prefer Jayz if I want to listen to English rap

“If I want to listen to English rap I will rather buy a Jayz CD because no matter how good you are at speaking English you can never sound like an American. I still believe in indigenous hip- hop and I think it’s the future of Nigerian music.”

Dangote splashes cement price to #1000 per bag

Posted on 22:11 by Unknown

A leading cement manufacturer in Nigeria, Dangote Cement Plc yesterday announced it has slashed the price of its cement product to N1000 per bag.

A step that will make cement cheaper than it has ever been since 2005, the new price regime announced by the Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement, Mr. Devakumar Edwin, said the Company has pegged the Dangote 32.5 cement grade at N1,000 per 50 kg bag, while the higher 42.5 grade is to sell for N1,150 per bag.

The new prices exclusive of the Value Added Tax (VAT), represents about 40 per cent discount on the prevailing market price of the product which is currently sold for N1,700 irrespective of the grade, across the country.

Edwin said the move is in line with the company’s commitment to the nation’s dire need for the development of infrastructure and to boost the federal and state government’s ongoing effort to reduce the near 20 million housing deficit in Africa’s largest economy.

“We recognize the need for an increase rapid response to the huge infrastructure and housing deficit in the country, and one of the ways of addressing the issue is bringing the price of building materials down to much more affordable levels especially cement which within our own control as part of our own contribution to the transformation agenda of the Goodluck Jonathan administration and the attainment of key milestones in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs),” he said.

Since the commencement of the implementation of the backward integration policy for cement in the country over 12 years ago, the local production capacity of the product rose from less than 3 million metric tonnes per annum to about 38 million metric tonnes per annum.

During the over 12-year period of the backward integration policy, nearly $20 billion has been directly and indirectly injected into the Nigerian cement industry with Dangote Cement Plc accounting for 60 per cent of that spend.

The GMD/CEO also noted that Dangote Cement Plc will continue to ensure alignment of its corporate social responsibility with its strategic business initiatives and will continue to evaluate its pricing regime in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the timing of the initiative has confounded industry watchers, who say that from experience, the cement market is on the verge of entering the accelerated demand phase as the raining season is tapering and the dry season which provides the opportunity for increased construction and building activities is setting in.

Recently, in further compliance with the ongoing Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) directive and regulation on the various grades of cement and their prescribed uses, Dangote cement launched its brand of the premium 32.5 cement grade, which has been restricted to plastering use only.

The largest cement producer in Nigeria noted that the move was to develop a full bouquet of cement types to meet the varied needs of consumers for the different grades of cement.

Dangote with this move now produces 42.5 for column casting, block making, decking and other general purpose construction work that require high strength, while also producing the premium 32.5 grade for rendering or plastering, flooring and other activities that may not require intense cement strength.

The company produces on demand the 52.5 grade for specialized construction of high strength structures such as bridges, flyovers, sky scrappers among others.

The 32.5 grade of cement which has the lowest strength among the cement grades was priced lower than the others, selling for N150 lower than the price of the higher strength 42.5, a price cut that has now been improved with the current initiative.

Dangote said in compliance with the SON standard for cement quality and packaging, the lower 32.5 type on the Dangote shelf will be clearly labelled as such, in order to prevent the problem of misapplication and misuse of the product which has become rampant in the nation’s building and construction industry.
