The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, is set to generate over N400 million from its gubernatorial aspirants in Imo State for the 2015 general elections.
over 26 candidates in the party as at now have expressed interest in the guber contest to challenge for the seat of incumbent Governor, Governor Rochas Okorocha.
According to the electioneering time-table released by the party in the state, governorship aspirant of the party are to pay N10 million for the nomination form and an additional N1 million for expression-of-interest, those contesting for the Senate are to pay N4 million for nomination form and N400,000 for expression-of-interest, while House of Representatives aspirant would pay N2.4 million for both forms.
Those contesting for the State House of Assembly are to pay N1.2 million.
According to investigations carried out by BusinessDay, each of the 26 governorship aspirants in Imo, the PDP would make N11 million for the nomination and expression-of-interest forms alone; another N1.65 million (being 15 percent of total forms money) to the zonal office and a similar thing (N1.65 million) for the state office. This brings the total to N12.65 million by each gubernatorial aspirant and total to the party to about N371.8 million.
It also noted that the party would generate over N300 million additionally from aspirants to the Senate, House of Reps and the State’s House of Assembly, where over 100 people have lined up to contest.
This brings the total expected generated funds to over N600 million.
